How do they work?
When a CO2 cartridge is activated, the rapid release of gas causes the metal cartridge to become extremely cold—cold enough to cause freeze burn on bare skin. These sleeves slip snugly over the cartridge, acting as an insulating barrier between your hand and the freezing metal. Made from neoprene, they retain flexibility and grip while helping to reduce direct contact with the cold surface during inflation.
Reusable, replaceable
These sleeves are reusable and hold up well during inflation, but because they fit tightly and the material contracts when cold, removing them afterwards can sometimes cause the neoprene to tear. It’s not common, but it happens—better to lose a sleeve than freeze your fingers. At just a few grams each, they’re easy to carry spares of.
Who is this for?
This is for cyclists who use CO2 inflators and want to avoid the sudden cold shock of bare metal cartridges during inflation. Whether you’re racing, commuting or riding trails, these sleeves are a simple, lightweight way to stay comfortable and in control when fixing a flat.
Who is this not for?
These sleeves aren’t for anyone using threaded cartridge systems that come with built-in insulation, or for those who prefer hand pumps and don’t carry CO₂ cartridges. They’re also not suitable if you’re looking for protection for non-standard cartridge sizes without checking fit first.
Why we love them
They’re small, cheap, and incredibly useful—one of those no-fuss products that quietly solves a real problem. We’ve used them ourselves, especially on cold winter mornings, and they just make sense. Slip one on, forget it’s there, and never get stung by a freezing cartridge again.
