This Positz Hub Cone Spanner Set comprises of two spanners with four different sizes available on each: from 13mm to 17mm. When you’re working on your bike simply select your size and away you go. Make no mistake – these are cheap, but they will do the job. The Positz Hub Cone Spanner Set is designed for the easy adjustment of bearing cones on wheel hubs. They provide a simple solution to accessing wheel bearings in cup and cone hubs for replacement or servicing. A simple but important pack of hub cone spanners, an important addition to the tool box for any DIY bike mechanic.
While standard open-end or adjustable wrenches work well for tightening cone locknuts, adjusting the cones themselves requires a specific tool: a cone spanner. This is because the narrow flats and tight clearances around the cones are designed for the slim profile of a cone wrench.
Positz Cone Spanners are expertly crafted for this purpose, ideal for adjusting the cones of cup and cone bearings. Unlike regular wrenches, cone spanners are thinner and lighter, built for low-torque tasks like centring brakes or adjusting cones. It’s important to reserve these tools for their intended purpose—using them for high-torque applications like axle nuts could cause unnecessary wear or damage.
