The original ‘Rapha’ cycling cap!
Saint-Raphael was a French professional cycling team that existed from 1954 to 1964, and spawned a sister team Rapha–Gitane–Dunlop. In 2004 the name was ‘lifted’ and resurface on the British cycling apparel brand Rapha.
This cap is a genuine reproduction of the 1950’s-1960’s team cap; an iconic cycling classic! The irony with this cap is, of course, that it is white with a red and blue ribbon – the national colours shared by both France and Britain. St Raphael was a French team, and Rapha is a British brand. In an additional twist the two most famous riders for this old-school team were Jacques Anquetil (from France) and Tom Simpson (from Britain)…
