Not just an ordinary cycling water bottle, insulated bottles come with the added benefit of being able to stay cool in summer – ideal in hot Australian conditions.
If you find yourself riding in hot conditions and like to keep your on-bike water cool then the answer is a resounding ‘yes’ – insulated bike water bottles are definitely worth it.
But perhaps they are not for everyone. If you drink a lot of water in a short period of time you will not enjoy the benefits that insulation of your bottle can provide, so therefore standard bike water bottles might be just as suitable for you.
How should I use my insulated bike water bottles?
To maximise the effectiveness of your insulated water bottles follow these simple tips:
Keep an eye on the weather forecast – when you see the hot weather coming you’ll know when to be prepared!
The night before a ride in hot weather, half fill your insulated bottle and then put it in the freezer overnight. In the morning, top it up with cold water. If you freeze the entire bottle it might take too long to unfreeze.
Wash your bottles regularly – there’s no special tricks in how to do this, just keep them clean and you’ll confidently know you’re drinking fresh, cool water.
