Jersey Pocket Pumps

Most mini pumps are too bulky to carry comfortably on a ride. The pumps in this category are different — all of them are compact enough to slip into a jersey pocket, light enough that you won’t notice them, and capable enough to get you home after a flat.

Whether you want the ultra-light simplicity of the Blackburn Airstik SL, the proven road performance of the Topeak Jersey Pocket Rocket DXII, a budget-friendly alloy option in the Azur Cyclone, or the convenience of a digital electric pump in the Azur Mini Electric – there’s an option here for every type of rider.

What makes a pump "jersey pocket" sized?

Jersey pockets are typically 18-20cm deep. A pump that fits comfortably needs to be around 16–20cm long and slim enough not to create an uncomfortable lump mid-ride. All four pumps here meet that standard — the Blackburn Airstik SL at 158mm and 59g is the most pocket-friendly of the group, while the Topeak DXII at 221mm sits at the upper limit but is a widely trusted choice among road cyclists for its high 160psi output.

Do I still need a floor pump at home?

Yes. These pumps are for emergencies and topping up on the road — not for precision pre-ride inflation. Use a floor pump at home for accurate pressure, and carry one of these for peace of mind.

Presta or Schrader?

Road and gravel bikes almost always use Presta valves. The Topeak DXII and Azur Cyclone handle both. The Blackburn Airstik SL is Presta-only, which suits most road riders and keeps it simpler to use. Check your valve type before buying.

What about CO2?

CO2 inflators are faster than any mini pump, but each cartridge is single-use. A jersey pocket pump gives you unlimited inflation attempts and is more reliable when you need multiple top-ups — for example if you have a slow leak, or run over something a second time. Many riders carry both.
