Clothing

When you're looking to buy cycling clothing it's best to consider a number of things before leaping into the nicest looking item that grabs your attention. First start by asking yourself what you need and why you need it. For example, if you're commuting to work a few times a jersey and bike shorts (aka "knicks") are essential for being more comfortable. Possibility of riding in the rain? Bring a rain jacket and stay dry and warm. Consider keeping your ears warm with a skull cap, beanie or headband.

For a serious road rider, cafe racer or triathlete you will be aware that style and performance is everything. The little details, from colour matching your shoes and helmet to ensuring your socks are just the right length will help make you "fit the mold" and enjoy your cycling that bit more. Like your team kit? Make sure it all looks clean and well fitted. A good base layer, wind vest, arm and leg warmers and shoe covers will become more important if you're planning on riding throughout the winter months. The traditional European peaked cap is an ideal and accessory for the obligatory coffee shop stop. And as the team at Mr Cycling World is based in Melbourne,  we know what that's all about... (Good coffee and tough weather conditions, that's what cycling's all about, right?!!)

Mountain bikers and BMX riders can afford to be a bit more relaxed with their choices, but padded shorts, gloves and of course helmets are all considered essential items for your adventures.

The most important thing when choosing your next bit of kit? Ensuring you're comfortable with the choices you've made, and that you feel good when you're wearing it.
